Synopsis
Shortly after midnight on July 30, 1945, the Navy cruiser USS Indianapolis was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in the Philippine Sea. The ship had just left the island of Tinian, delivering components of the atomic bomb destined for Hiroshima. As the torpedoes hit, the Indianapolis erupted into a fiery coffin, sinking in less than fifteen minutes and leaving nine hundred crewmen fighting for life in shark-infested waters. They expected a swift, routine rescue, unaware that the Navy high command didn't even realize that the Indianapolis was missing. Help would not arrive for another five days. Drawn from definitive interviews with key figures, Fatal Voyage recounts the horrific events endured as the number of water-treading survivors dwindled to just 316. Each gruesome day brought more madness and slow death, from explosion-related injuries, dehydration, and, most terrifying of all, shark attacks. But the pain did not end when the men finally returned home- The Indianapolis 's commander, Captain Charles B. McVay III, was court-martialed for causing the clearly unavoidable disaster. With a new afterword chronicling the fifty-five-year campaign by Indianapolis survivors and their supporters to win public vindication for Captain McVay, this classic is restored, along with memories of the Indianapolis crew., Shortly after midnight on July 30, 1945, the Navy cruiser USS Indianapolis was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in the Philippine Sea. - l***s (204)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaReally lovely seller — initially didn’t get sent in time but a quick message and the tracking was sent right away. Not concerned with the delay in postage, I know how it is :) thanks again
- n***n (237)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaSeller committed fraud. Do not trust! They marked item as sent with the wrong carrier and suspiciously no promised tracking info. It was never sent! They took my money anyways and ignored my communications before, during, and after the sale period. eBay had to step in and when customer service also could not get a response from the seller they quickly issued a refund. This was very frustrating I purchased the same item elsewhere. They went out of their way to fraudulently waste time!Respuesta de the_tangle_trove- Votos a los que ha respondido el vendedor the_tangle_trove.- Votos a los que ha respondido el vendedor the_tangle_trove.Hi - I'm sorry you had a frustrating experience, but accusing us of fraud and warning others not to trust us over a shipping delay is unfair. We never received your money. eBay refunded you in full the same day you requested it. Claiming we "went out of our way to fraudulently waste time" doesn't match what happened: a shipping problem resolved immediately with a complete refund. We're a small family business with hundreds of successful transactions. Our feedback history reflects who we are.
