Synopsis
Could extinct species, like mammoths and passenger pigeons, be brought back to life? In How to Clone a Mammoth, Beth Shapiro, an evolutionary biologist and pioneer in ancient DNA research, addresses this intriguing question by walking readers through the astonishing and controversial process of de-extinction. From deciding which species should be restored to anticipating how revived populations might be overseen in the wild, Shapiro vividly explores the extraordinary cutting-edge science that is being used to resurrect the past. Considering de-extinction's practical benefits and ethical challenges, Shapiro argues that the overarching goal should be the revitalisation and stabilisation of contemporary ecosystems. Looking at the very real and compelling science behind an idea once seen as science fiction, How to Clone a Mammoth demonstrates how de-extinction will redefine conservation's future. ' A thrilling tour of the science that might -- might -- recreate lost worlds from the not-too-distant past...Sharp, witty, and impeccably-argued.' -- Brian Switek, National Geographic 'At once an account of the state of the technology, a sketch of how to proceed, a barrage of as-yet unanswerable questions and a manifesto.' -- Olivia Judson, Financial Times 'A fascinating book.' -- Carl Zimmer, Wall Street Journal 'An entertaining and deeply informative read.' -- A. Rus Hoelzel, Science 'An engaging, rigorous, and deeply thoughtful book.' -- Elizabeth Kolbert, author of The Sixth Extinction, An insider's view on bringing extinct species back to life Could extinct species, like mammoths and passenger pigeons, be brought back to life? - 2***4 (157)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaGot the TV series combat, season 2 volume one from the seller and they shipped it out fast and well wrapped up for the journey. It arrived earlier than listed and in the condition they listed it as being. This is not a series easy to find out side of complete box set yet alone for the great price they sold it for. The seller showed great communication and I'd buy from them again without question. Good series and good seller.

Customer service was prompt and helpful, answering all my questions. My order arrived quickly, well-packaged, and the product exceeded my expectations in quality. I’m impressed with the attention to detail and the overall experience. I’ll definitely shop here again and highly recommend from this seller to others. Thank you for a fantastic experience!
- k***a (217)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaBook is beautiful, but jacket is worn more than the pictures. Restorable, but annoying. Only wrapped in shipping plastic with no padding or other protection, but fortunately it came through ok. Overall I'm happy with the book, and seller gave a very good price, but should show more better pictures and pack the books better. Anyway, this will be a great addition to my Kubrick collection, and I can recommend the seller.
