Synopsis
This handbook examines theoretical frameworks and concepts from the social sciences with implications for guiding the identification, evaluation, and presentation of mitigation evidence., This book provides an introduction to socio-legal forms of mitigation in capital sentencing. It helps mitigation specialists, defense investigators, social scientists, and lawyers in developing socio-cultural themes of mitigation. It examines scientific formulations, concepts, and frameworks for structuring social history investigations and assessments of moral culpability. A fundamental aim of this handbook was to provide mitigation professionals not only with an understanding of the context of mitigation in criminal justice thinking, but also ways of contextualizing issues of blame and culpability. Cases are used to illustrate how to identify, evaluate and present mitigation evidence in assessing issues of culpability in the mitigation of punishment in death penalty cases. It also exposes mitigation professionals to recent developments in the social sciences with implications for assessing issues of practical rationality, diminished volition, unfortunate forms of socialization, criminal propensities, socio-cultural deprivation, and gang involvement. These topics are linked with legal and philosophical conceptions of moral culpability that offer mitigation professionals new ways of thinking about both proximal and remote forms of mitigation. These socially oriented lenses, used in examining these concepts and legal issues, offer alternative ways of thinking about issues of capacity, choice and character in assessing diminished forms of moral culpability. The book concludes with recommendations for future research and other strategies for promoting the improvement of practice in the field of capital mitigation. Unlike other books on death penalty mitigation, this book examines issues of relevance to social scientists, as well as mental health professionals. In fact, it is one of the only books written on the subject that includes opportunities for the inclusion of expert testimony on socio-legal matters by social criminologists, sociologists, social psychologists, and social workers.

- 9***g (568)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaShipped quickly, over all packaging was done well, was as described except it didn't have the plug adapter. Contacted seller and was told I received everything in the photo, this was true... But I didn't know it needed a adapter so how would I know it wasn't included. Could have put that info in description! So Value was a bit lacking! (seller was also a bit harsh in his replies)1Mii B03 Bluetooth Transmitter Receiver In Black For TV Home Stereo Headphone* (#296909307150)
- s***0 (313)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaNot quite sure how to put this. SELLER IS HONEST! But this poor old Bible decided to come apart at the seams just at the moment of packing it up! Seller immediately messaged, refunded and apologized almost in the same breath - but I really don't need the apology as the message/refund were enough for me. I understand 60-year old books do weird things sometimes and description even said it was on the rough side and price reflected that. So even though this oopsie happened I'd use seller again!Vintage The Jerusalem Bible 1966 Special Edition Hardcover Book By Doubleday (#296989460333)
- m***m (3)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaThe LEGO was in pretty much the exact condition as shown and even arrived early, wrapped in bubble wrap! All the pieces are of good quality, and everything looks great. My only concern is that 2/3 minifigures did not come with their jetpacks, but the seller said that it was an accident. Other than that, it was a great purchase, and I would recommend this seller to others 👍.
