Australian Journalist, Penny Brownrig, was kidnapped by drug bandit, Rafael Caro Quintero, and taken hostage to El Fuerte. Dirk and Maggi Muerta followed at great risk. The 44th US Armored Infantry Division followed a preimptive thermonuclear strike, crossed the Rio Grande, and advanced on Mexico. North Korea invaded South Korea, and China began an amphibious assault on Taiwan. Russia without warning nuked Pyongyang. Global ice, ethnic riots, savage cannibalism, and the four horsemen of the Apocalypse interrupt the routine lives of lawyer Sandra Lerner and friends. Maria and Sandra get married in Hong Kong. Jerrry Billings goes down in helicopter crash. Dirk moves in with Evon, and Li Chen announces she's with child.
