Rage of Mages II: Necromancer is a role-playing game where players must take up the sword or bow as a warrior or don the cloak and wield the staff of a mage. Whatever path is chosen, the player lands on Yases and must search for adventure.<br><br>Each town on Yases has a shop and an inn. In the shop, players can buy and sell weapons, potions, armor, and scrolls. Players can collect the items of slain enemies to peddle in each town's shop.<br><br>In the inns, players talk to other characters, hire mercenaries for quests, join other characters in quests, or accept missions from persons in distress. Some quests will earn players rewards. Others will only earn the respect of peasants who cannot afford to compensate the warrior. <br><br>Players can control their own characters (heroes) plus the mercenaries and other warriors in the hero's band. Players can control the movements of one or more of the characters and can use them to attack enemies, attack an area, retreat, or defend an area. <br><br>Once a player explores all of the areas of Yases, the game is over. Each quest takes players to parts of the island, and each quest brings the player closer to solving the larger mystery of Yases and the Guild of Necromancers.
