Synopsis
The greatest Christian split of all has been that between east and west, between Roman Catholic and eastern Orthodox, which is still apparent today. Henry Chadwick provides a compelling and balanced account of the emergence of divisions between Rome and Constantinople. Starting with the roots of the divergence in Apostolic times, he takes the story right up to the Council of Florence in the fifteenth century., The greatest Christian split of all has been that between east and west, between Roman Catholic and eastern Orthodox, a rift that is still apparent today. Henry Chadwick provides a compelling and balanced account of the emergence of divisions between Rome and Constantinople. Drawing on his encyclopaedic command of the literature, he starts with the roots of the divergence in apostolic times and takes the story right up to the Council of Florence in the fifteenth century. Henry Chadwick's own years of experience as an ecumenist inform his discussion of Christians in relation to each other, to Jews, and to non-Christian Gentiles. He displays a distinctive concern for the factors - theological, personal, political, and cultural - that caused division in the church and prevented reconciliation. His masterly exposition of the complex issues discussed at the Ecumenical Councils (issues that eventually led to the separation) is characteristically clear and fair. This is a work of immense learning, written with sensitivity and spirit. Its fascinating detail and full analysis make it invaluable to anyone interested in how this lasting rift in the Church developed.

The item arrived quickly, well-packaged, & as advertised; who could possibly ask for more than that?! Did I say it was well-packaged? Because that's the understatement of the decade. This seller packed this awesome Chap Mei walking mech with extreme care so that not even the USPS could destroy it. I got two similar items from another seller who tossed them in a box together with no protection at all & they arrived in pieces. This seller is awesome though & is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

cooperative, true to word. the lusters were well packed, multiple layers for extra safety. unfortunately when I unpacked one of them the beautiful top was shattered. the box was well marked FRAGILE. in my opinion the box was mishandled in shipping. box obviously tossed about too hard and carelessly. i reported this to seller the same day with pictures and told her I would like to keep the one that hadn’t gotten damaged. she immediately credited the cost of the second one back to my credit card ❤

I highly recommend this seller. I would have been no less satisfied if the books had been described as like new. Given their weight, the shipping charge was most reasonable. They were well packaged for safe arrival, too, and shipped without delay. The seller communicated most cordially, too. I couldn't have asked for more! Thanks again!
