Product Information
Ghost Pilots is a 2D vertically scrolling shooter that puts players in the classic shooter role of one against the horde. One or two players simultaneously pilot fighter planes through a series of scrolling stages in an attempt to survive the enemy-filled stages and defeat the various stage bosses. The fighters are equipped with pontoons, and have water takeoff and landing capabilities. To aid in survival the fighters also have an unlimited ammunition gun and a stock of special weapons.<br><br>In standard shooter tradition, certain enemies in Ghost Pilots leave behind power ups when destroyed. Power ups come in the forms of floating S and B icons, which players must touch with their planes. S icons increase the plane's shooting abilities; in practical terms the player's ship shoots more shots simultaneously after collecting an S power up. B power ups can be collected to increase the player's total of special weapon stocks.<br><br>At the beginning of the game players can select their plane's special weapon load. There are two choices available, bombs and missiles. Bombs shoot out a bit ahead of the player's plane then explode in a ball of fire. During the few seconds of the ball of fire animation anything that's touched by the bomb is destroyed. Missiles spread out in a circular pattern around the plane then explode in a ring of small fireballs. During the beginning of the explosion players can choose to move their plane, sending the ring of explosions moving in that direction destroying everything in its path. Unlike regular enemies, bosses cannot be destroyed by single special weapon blasts.<br><br>Players' planes are destroyed if they come into contact with enemy units or enemy bullets. If players lose three planes the game is over.
