When we received the sculpture, we realised that it was damaged. A experienced restorer confirmed to us on the basis of the seller's original photos that the seller had sold the work damaged and must have been aware of this. The seller responded to our comments about the declaration and the damage with an allegedly ignorant and innocent response. No compensation by now.
