The WD7500BPVT, or Western Digital Scorpio Blue hard drive, is a 2.5-inch hard drive with an SATA II interface that comes with a 750GB capacity. This capacity is split into a dual-platter structure of 375GBs each, which is unique in hard drives. This dual-capacity feature will maximize your storage and solve many of your data woes. Imagine how much data you could store with 750GB of available space. Data transfers cruise due to the spindle speed of 5,400 RPM, which roughly translates to 3 gigabytes per second (Gbps). Another unique feature of the Western Digital Blue Scorpio hard drive is that the contact between the recording heads and disk surface is minimized when the drive is not in use, which extends the life of the device. None of these features drain your power because not only is the Western Digital Scorpio Blue hard drive efficient at consuming power, but it also uses WhisperDrive technology for a very quiet device. This hard drive is a reliable device as well, and it is possible to store many file types. Another cool feature of this hard drive is that it fits into a standard size notebook drive, which is any drive that is 9.5mm in drive height. The drive has an 8MB data cache and uses the new advanced format with 4K sectors, which supports a greater storage capacity. As well, Western Digital Blue Scorpio hard drive has done another unique thing. By using the dual platter design, they offer a high-capacity hard drive in the 9.5mm format. The insides of the hard drive are also built well. For example, the PCB is insulated with a thin foam sheet, which serves as a shock absorber of sorts and prevents the PCB pieces from shorting out when touching the metal case. The Western Digital Blue Scorpio hard drive should only be used with operating systems that support 4K sectors or Western Digital’s align tool. However, since it will fit in most notebooks, it is a great investment for data storage. The innards of the hard drive have an inside facing circuit board layout, so all of the components of the Western Digital Scorpio Blue hard drive are tightly pressed up against the body of the drive. The way, it is put together allows the drive to be a heat sink for its heat generating components, such as the memory and the controller. Inside the drive, if opened and inspected, it is possible that it contains a Marvell 88i9045-tfj2 controller, a 32MB Windbond 400MHz DDr module, and a Texas Instruments SH6601AF motor driver. The Western Digital Scorpio Blue hard drive increases the storage capacity of your notebook personal computer and allows for faster data transfers. You are able to store many files on this hard drive, ranging from pictures and videos to music and software. It is also possible to split the drive and install your operating system on one side and any games or software on the other. This is the ideal replacement for an inferior or out-of-date hard drive.
