Reviews
"This book collects 17 essays written by eminent researchers of neurology, psychology and cognitive science. The focus of their essays is on the role ofemotion in cognition, and viceversa. By reviewing anatomical, psychiatric andanimal data, the book provides an up to date survey of the field. Severalchapters deal with the neurobiological basis of emotion. Where is emotiongenerated and what are the physiochemical processes that generate it? Theamygdala is everybody's favorite suspect, because of its known participation inprocesses that precede emotion, but LeDoux and others offer a very complexscenario, in which several distinct regions of the brain participate in thegeneration and development of emotion. This book is an ideal companion forprofessionals and scholars who want to bridge neurophysiology and psychiatry."-- Piero Scaruffi, Thymos.com, "[A]n outstanding book on current research on the neurobiology of emotion. Edited and authored by internationally recognized researchers, this book is an exceptionally valuable contribution to this field. The purpose, according to the editors, is to document the current understanding of how emotion is instantiated in the brain; and to encourage the cognitive neuroscientific study of emotion, which, they claim, has not until recently been studied within this framework. The intended audience is . . . workers in the fields of neuroscience, cognitive science, and psychology. It is also appropriate for graduate students and advanced undergraduates. . . . The chapters are written by well-known authors, such as Darnasio, Kolb, Ledoux, Trenel, Heilman, Davidson, among others. . . . This is an extremely valuable book on the neurological basis of emotion. Researchers as well as clinicians will, without a doubt, benefit from reading and referring to this book."--Doody's Electronic Journal"Mostly American, with a few European and Canadian, neuroscientists demonstrate how the rather messy topic of emotion can be studied within their discipline without compromising its scientific principles and practices. They cover the process of emotion generation, the functions of the amygdala, the conscious experience of emotion, and emotion regulation and dysfunction. They also review recent findings from the neuro-anatomical study of rats and non-human primates. The collection is intended as an introduction for practitioners and graduate and undergraduate students of neuroscience, cognitive science, or psychology."--SciTech Book News, "Mostly American, with a few European and Canadian, neuroscientists demonstrate how the rather messy topic of emotion can be studied within their discipline without compromising its scientific principles and practices. Synopsis
This book, a member of the Series in Affective Science, is a unique interdisciplinary sequence of articles on the cognitive neuroscience of emotion by some of the most well-known researchers in the area. It explores what is known about cognitive processes in emotion at the same time it reviews the processes and anatomical structures involved in emotion, determining whether there is something about emotion and its neural substrates that requires they be studied as a separate domain. Divided into four major focal points and presenting research that has been performed in the last decade, this book covers the process of emotion generation, the functions of amygdala, the conscious experience of emotion, and emotion regulation and dysregulation. Collectively, the chapters constitute a broad but selective survey of current knowledge about emotion and the brain, and they all address the close association between cognitive and emotional processes. By bringing together diverse strands of investigation with the aim of documenting current understanding of how emotion is instantiated in the brain, this book will be of use to scientists, researchers, and advanced students of psychology and neuroscience., By bringing together some of the most well-known researchers in the area who present diverse strands of investigation with the aim of documenting current understanding of cognitive processes in emotion, this book will be of use to scientists, researchers, and advanced students of psychology and neuroscience.

- e***u (283)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaThe listing was for a hardcover version of this book; however, I received a paperback. The Seller replied quickly to my question about this issue and issued a full refund - and let me keep the book. So, a diligent Seller for sure - and well packaged and reasonable timing on shipping. Thank you for the refund, and as you suggested, I'll likely donate this volume and seek the hardcover.
- e***n (392)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaGreat transaction, exactly as described, packed well, and promptly shipped on August 6th. Unfortunately the U.S. Postal Service took 23 calendar days to deliver the book. It was shipped from Pennsylvania, to Atlanta, past Alabama to Texas, enjoyed several days in Texas, then to Minneapolis, Jacksonville, Florida, back to Atlanta, finally to Birmingham, and Huntsville. The seller was very responsive and I decided it was interesting to see if/how the book would arrive. However I had a slight issues with the item(could have been damaged by carrier not sure) but seller made good with a full refund immediately after I contacted them about the issue. I would do business again based on the excellent customer service and would highly recommend seller.
