Advance praise for The Bone Clocks "Is The Bone Clocks the most ambitious novel ever written, or just the most Mitchell-esque? . . . From gritty realism to far-out fantasy, each section has its own charm and surprises. With its wayward thoughts, chance meetings, and attention to detail, [David] Mitchell's novel is a thing of beauty." -- Publishers Weekly (starred review), Named One of the Season's Top 10 Works of Literary Fiction by Publishers Weekly Named One of the Most Anticipated Books of 2014 by The Millions "Mitchell returns to the genre-skipping, globe-trotting, techno-spiritual ambitions of his astonishing Cloud Atlas, taking even greater risks at even greater length." -- New York "If you can imagine the austere literary prowess of Ian McEwan married to the storytelling gifts of J.K. Rowling, you will begin to approximate David Mitchell. There's no real argument: he's the best novelist of his generation--and the most fun. The Bone Clocks is a stunning work of invention, incident, and character. The levels of awesome in this book are off the charts." --Joe Hill, New York Times bestselling author of NOS4A2 and Heart-Shaped Box "A globe-trotting, time-bending epic that touches down in, among other places, England, Switzerland, Iraq, and Australia . . . Is The Bone Clocks the most ambitious novel ever written, or just the most Mitchell-esque? . . . From gritty realism to far-out fantasy, each section has its own charm and surprises. With its wayward thoughts, chance meetings, and attention to detail, [David] Mitchell's novel is a thing of beauty. . . . The less said about the plot the better, but fans of Mitchell's books will be thrilled." -- Publishers Weekly (starred review) "Trademark Mitchell . . . another exacting, challenging and deeply rewarding novel from [the] logophile and time-travel master." -- Kirkus Reviews (starred review), Advance praise for The Bone Clocks "Mitchell returns to the genre-skipping, globe-trotting, techno-spiritual ambitions of his astonishing Cloud Atlas, taking even greater risks at even greater length." -- New York "Is The Bone Clocks the most ambitious novel ever written, or just the most Mitchell-esque? . . . [ The Bone Clocks ] won't disappoint." -- Library Journal (Editor's Pick) "A globe-trotting, time-bending epic that touches down in, among other places, England, Switzerland, Iraq, and Australia . . . Is The Bone Clocks the most ambitious novel ever written, or just the most Mitchell-esque? . . . From gritty realism to far-out fantasy, each section has its own charm and surprises. No one, clearly, has ever told Mitchell that the novel is dead. He writes with a furious intensity and slapped-awake vitality, with a delight in language and all the rabbit holes of experience. . . . In his sixth novel, he''s brought together the time-capsule density of his eyes-wide-open adventure in traditional realism with the death-defying ambitions of Cloud Atlas until all borders between pubby England and the machinations of the undead begin to blur. . . . He clearly believes not just in words, alternate realities, burps of synchronicity, but in the excitement of thinking about belief and extending its borders without losing the clank of the real. . . . Not many novelists could take on plausible Aboriginal speech, imagine a world after climate change has ravaged it and wonder whether whales suffer from unrequited love. . . . Very few [writers] excite the reader about both the visceral world and the visionary one as Mitchell does." -- The New York Times Book Review "A hell of a great read . . . wild, funny, terrifying . . . a slipstream masterpiece all its own . . . David Mitchell is a genre-bending, time-leaping, world-traveling, puzzle-making, literary magician, and The Bone Clocks is one of his best books." -- Esquire "A fantastic, perilous journey over continents and decades. Fans of Mitchell''s Cloud Atlas will find this equally ambitious and mind-bending." -- Marie Claire "Mitchell is back to try to shoot the moon again in a sweeping epic, The Bone Clocks, that, like Cloud Atlas, spans the ages and tinkers with the hidden gears of human history. It reads as if it were dreamed up whole and plotted out in a huge unlined notebook packed with drawings, charts, explosions of scribbles." -- GQ "A cautionary metaphysical thriller that grounds its ambition in its heroine''s human charm." -- Vogue "By the earth-shaking climax, you''ll be glad you kept up." -- Details "Visionary author David Mitchell bent time, space, and the minds of millions with his vertiginously ambitious novel Cloud Atlas . Now, ten years and two subsequent novels later, the author returns to the genre-warping, time-tripping, metaphysical thriller form with a vengeance. . . . Mitchell''s mesmerizing saga is evidence of the power of story to transport us, and even to stop time entirely." -- Vanity Fair "A globe-trotting, mind-bending, hair-raising triumph, already sitting pretty on the Booker longlist." -- The Guardian (UK) "Mitchell returns to the genre-skipping, globe-trotting, techno-spiritual ambitions of his astonishing Cloud Atlas, taking even greater risks at even greater length." -- New York "If you can imagine the austere literary prowess of Ian McEwan married to the storytelling gifts of J.K. But Holly is no typical teenage runaway: A sensitive child once contacted by voices she knew only as "the radio people," Holly is a lightning rod for psychic phenomena. Now, as she wanders deeper into the English countryside, visions and coincidences reorder her reality until they assume the aura of a nightmare brought to life. For Holly has caught the attention of a cabal of dangerous mystics--and their enemies. But her lost weekend is merely the prelude to a shocking disappearance that leaves her family irrevocably scarred. This unsolved mystery will echo through every decade of Holly's life, affecting all the people Holly loves--even the ones who are not yet born. A Cambridge scholarship boy grooming himself for wealth and influence, a conflicted father who feels alive only while reporting on the war in Iraq, a middle-aged writer mourning his exile from the bestseller list--all have a part to play in this surreal, invisible war on the margins of our world. From the medieval Swiss Alps to the nineteenth-century Australian bush, from a hotel in Shanghai to a Manhattan townhouse in the near future, their stories come together in moments of everyday grace and extraordinary wonder. Rich with character and realms of possibility, The Bone Clocks is a kaleidoscopic novel that begs to be taken apart and put back together by a writer The Washington Post calls "the novelist who's been showing us the future of fiction." - _***s (6)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaWhen I'd originally placed this order, I had accidentally put in the wrong shipping address. However, the seller was more than helpful, and the CD arrived!! The packaging was wide open when it arrived, but luckily nothing was damaged. Additionally, there was nothing protective on the CD, so that open package made me feel kind of nervous. Otherwise, absolutely great! The customer service was awesome, and the product was as described.

I ordered another and had it sent elsewhere. My main issue was that it felt as if I was getting automated responses at first!! Please have humans review human inquiries!! It was painstaking explaining the situation to an A.I. who only repeats unhelpful replies. Thanks again!! Otherwise. Great price! Great seller!
- a***a (346)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaThis hardback book is of the highest quality, has a fine appearance , arrived in perfect condition, and is an excellent value. On what I was not asked about this time, communicating with the seller would have required using email outside of the eBay system, because they do not accept eBay messages, the book was well packed in a purpose-designed cardboard box, the shipping was faster than I expected for the bound media rate, and the book was exactly as described and pictured.Tameshigiri - The History and Development of Japanese Sword Testing by Sesko (#282906424466)
