Designed and constructed by the Toshiba Corporation, the MK1214GAH 120GB model is an embedded hard disk drive, or HDD, that offers expansive storage for a range of user applications. With a solid reputation for reliability and consistency, Toshiba is a leading global manufacturer of products belonging to a wide range of technology categories. This mini-drive is manufactured according to the high standards of Toshiba’s quality requirements and will function as expected for an extended duration of time. The Toshiba MK1214GAH is an optimal solution for a variety of data transfer and storage needs.Released in 2008, the Toshiba MK1214GAH is an internal 1.8-inch form factor hard drive with a parallel ATA, or PATA, type of connection. Many laptop motherboards featuring LIF connectors distributed by manufacturers such as Intel and Gigabyte will be compatible with the MK1214GAH. Belonging to a series of hard drives intended for use in laptop systems, the MK1214GAH hard drive runs at a rate of 4200 rpm and has an 8MB DRAM disk cache buffer. It transfers data to external sources from its two platters via four different heads at a maximum rate of 100Mb/s while the internal data transfer rate is 411.1Mbit/s. A low latency rate of 7.14ms also assists in reducing delays while retrieving data from the spinning disks. Users employing the drive will find that the average seek time of 15ms, combined with a track-to-track time of 3ms, ensures rapid delivery of important data in a computer system.As an embedded HDD, the MK1214GAH is based on Perpendicular Magnetic Recording, meaning it offers high information density. With access to over 120GB of recording space, users can store a vast amount of pictures, videos, and documents. Since preserving the integrity of a hard drive is critical to protecting important data, the Toshiba drive also features S.M.A.R.T., or Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology. The purpose of this technology is to detect any potential drive failures or corruption issues that may occur with storage drives. By utilizing this software, users can prevent undesired loss of data and preserve the stability of their operation-critical backups. In addition to a sizable number of other benefits, this HDD also has an energy consumption efficiency of 0.0025 W/GB and consumes between 0.07-1.8 W during operations. Temperatures average between 41-140 degrees Fahrenheit in a standard system with adequate cooling components installed.Weighing in at only 2.08 ounces with compact dimensions of 2.4 inches by 3.0 inches by 0.2 inches, the MK1214GAH is a conveniently sized HDD with notably high performance. It can be used to upgrade the capacity of myriad devices, including laptops, tablets, and MP3 players. Its PATA connection interface and rapid data transfer rates will maintain productivity while keeping wait times in check.
