SynopsisElmer and Eileen Lehman grew up on dairy farms in rural northern New York State. Following their marriage, they administered a children's home for two years in Mennonite Voluntary Service in Puerto Rico. This was followed by academic preparation and twenty-two years as missionaries in Costa Rica. In later years they moved to Ohio where Elmer taught at Rosedale Bible College and worked in the offices of Rosedale Mennonite Missions. Eileen worked as a Learning Disabilities tutor in the Hilliard, Ohio school district. They were part of a church planting team to begin Agape Community Fellowship in Hilliard in 1988. Elmer served as senior pastor for the first ten years and then as overseer. They were part of a church planting team to begin a Spanish speaking congregation, Iglesia Cristiana Hispana in 2001. After retirement, Eileen gave ten years as volunteer manager of the Country Closet Thrift Shop, a ministry of relief and service sponsored by the Mennonite Central Committee. Elmer and Eileen continue to serve as volunteers at the Country Closet Thrift Shop and assist in the ministry of a Spanish-speaking congregation, the Iglesia Cristiana Hispana. They live in Hilliard, Ohio, are the parents of five children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
