Synopsis
The fear of death, the pain of bereavement, the art of consolation, and the custom of mourning--these are experiences with which all mortals must reckon. In The Grim Reader , editors Maura Spiegel and Richard Tristman have gathered the best classic and contemporary writing on mortality--from Montaigne to Monty Python--to produce an essential resource for the heart and mind. These idiosyncratic and always enlightening pieces are grouped into thematic parts in which a diversity of perspective on death are revealed. From death in its most personal sphere to the major issues of death in the public realm, The Grim Reader offers a fresh and unmediated encounter with mortality and the many dimensions of grief and recovery. A compelling collection of poems, fiction, letters, historical documents, essays, and narrations from a wide variety of writers, including: Vladimir Nabokov- John Ashbery- Samuel Beckett Adam Smith- Simone de Beauvoir- Grace Paley Giovanni Boccaccio- Bertolt Brecht- Roland Barthes James Baldwin- Primo Levi- Anne Sexton Luis Bu uel- Paul Monette- Jessica Mitford- Stanley Elkin, The best classic and contemporary writing on mortality--from Montaigne to Monty Python--to produce an essential resource for the heart and mind. - 3***u (446)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Último añoCompra verificadaItem is as described. Poor communication from the seller regarding extremely slow shipping - had to contact eBay to get his attention to actually ship the item. With that being said, the seller provided a full refund for the item and still promptly sent the item. I believe shipping issue was probably an oversight because of the holidays and the seller did his best to make things right. I would not hesitate to buy from this seller again.Respuesta de craigis-0- Votos a los que ha respondido el vendedor craigis-0.- Votos a los que ha respondido el vendedor craigis-0.Thank you for your patience. - t***e (487)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaSeller accepted two best offers, and then let the two books sit for two weeks, unnoticed. Only acted after I sent two messages asking for an update. Seller shipped one book and then refunded it. Then, refused to ship the 2nd book, but issued a refund. I could not recommend this seller as they had no sense of humor, and were rather dull in their correspondence--oh, and the huge delay, too. All around disappointing.Respuesta de craigis-0- Votos a los que ha respondido el vendedor craigis-0.- Votos a los que ha respondido el vendedor craigis-0.Let me introduce you to the most petulant child we have been unfortunate enough to encounter over our long time selling on ebay. We made an error on the orders. Noted. As soon as we were notified we immediately shipped the first book and refunded the purchase. Because of the continuous ridiculous messages I also refunded the 2nd book and blocked them to make it just go way, Stear clear of this one at all cost.
