Rich Trethewy on TOH says changing out the anode rod can make a water heater last 20 to 30 years but most people just buy a new one. It also is designed to get rid of bad odor in the water.

Item description was very accurate, price was better than other similar items I had previously viewed and it arrived very securely packed with inner protective material. I highly recommend this seller. Not only is it reliable but also very professional.
