Notes2016 release from the alt-rock/punk trailblazers. Revolution Radio is the twelfth studio album by Green Day and is the first album since 21st Century Breakdown (2009) to be recorded as a trio after Jason White returned to being a touring member in 2016. Work on the album began in January 2016 after a two-year break, following the release of ¡Uno! ¡Dos! And ¡Tré! in 2012. After stating that their previous trilogy of albums had "absolutely no direction to them" and attempted to be "prolific for the sake of it," lead singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong claims that Revolution Radio is "not so much a makeover as a make under." The members of Green Day were kids from working-class backgrounds who came of age in the underground punk scene in Berkeley. The band formed in the late 1980s and consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool.
