Collin Herring Biography What a difference a year can make. Or even less time, if you're Collin Herring. Over the past nine months, the Fort Worth-based artist has gone from being a local favorite to: achieving recognition as a nationally-acclaimed critical darling; sweeping major awards ceremonies; headlining gala benefit concerts; winning over audiences everywhere he has played with his tireless touring and dynamic live performances; making numerous live network TV and radio guest appearances; receiving worldwide media attention and, ultimately, being heralded as "the torchbearer for the future of alt-country." The true beauty of Collin Herring's remarkable accomplishments is that he has made all of this seem so effortless and so naturally inevitable in such an unbelievably short period of time. This doesn't even begin to mention the enormous success experienced by his latest CD, The Other Side of Kindness (Gravestone Picnic Records), which has emerged as 2005's biggest surprise in the music industry. Only his second album, the CD blistered out of the blocks, outselling all of his major label competition in the CD's debut week of internet sales (even charting ahead of new releases from Bright Eyes and the Old '97s). Completely unpredictably, Collin's sophomore CD became the Top-Selling Album for the entire month of February on quintessential Americana music sales site, Miles of Music. Since it's release, the album has proceeded to garner unanimous raves from literally all over the world, including extraordinary notices in HARP, Paste and No Depression (the "holy trinity" of roots-based national magazines).     The book was mostly as described but was loosely packaged (bubble wrap was not secured around the book) so that the top end of the dust jacket on the front cover corner had an accordian-style tear about a half inch down the edge. Otherwise a good item and transaction.
