The hand strap works very well and is relatively lightweight compared to other cases I have had. Also, it's not difficult to put on as long as you remember that the Surface Pro's back flap needs to go on the other side of the bottom "lip" before ultimately pushing the device gently in place. Once in place, it is solid and not loose. Getting off from other cases is a little harder but still manageable.
