Playing again as Link, who is now aged sixteen, players were tasked with saving the eponymous Princess Zelda from a heinous sleeping spell. This addition to the series introduced a greater reliance on a side-scrolling, role-playing format. It also introduced Link's magic meter, which limited his ability to wield special powers.
