Product Information
Having made previous appearances in several Commodore 64 titles, Monty Mole brings his act to the Turbo Graphx-16 in Impossamole. This simply plotted sci-fi side-scroller sees Monty kidnapped from the beach, spirited away on an alien spacecraft, and drafted into a role where he must save the alien's world from the Evil Emperor Vlarg. Using a variety of weapons found in five levels (The Orient, Amazon Jungle, Ice Land, the Bermuda Triangle, and the Alien Planet), Monty must kick, bubble gun, and hammer gun his way through hordes of evil monsters in ten stages, while searching for the 40 Sacred Scrolls of Eternal Life.<br><br>You begin with only four lives, each of which is depicted by a health vitality meter composed of three mole faces. Sustaining injuries in varying doses by enemies eventually depletes your health -- once all three faces are bandaged, the next injury eliminates one life, but collecting miniature Impossamoles throughout the levels earns extra lives. Each zone has a unique type of enemy (Ninjamouse, Ivor, the Kanooga, UFO) and a boss character, known as the Guardian, with Vlarg waiting for you at the end.<br><br>A password is provided as you complete each level, allowing you to continue games from that point rather than have to replay all the zones. Weapons have three levels of power (represented by soup cans) and bonus points are awarded for finding specific items in each stage.
