Human Devolution explores the origin of humans through a Vedic lens, proposing that we devolved from spirit to matter. Cremo combines science and Vedas to argue that humans are a blend of consciousness, matter, and mind., Human Devolution: A Vedic Alternative to Darwin's Theory by Michael A Cremo attempts to answer the question 'where did we come from?', using research taken from the fields of genetics, archaeology, out-of-body experiences, cross-cultural cosmology, parapsychology and reincarnation memories. Using this as evidence, the author attempts to provide a new perspective on the origin of human beings using the ancient philosophies of India. This book is a sequel to the bestseller, Forbidden Archaeology. According to Cremo's findings, humans did not evolve from matter, rather we devolved or came to earth from spirit or pure consciousness. Cremo bases his conclusion on modern science and the Vedas. The author states that before asking 'where do we come from?', humans ought to contemplate on 'what is a human being'. According to Cremo, a human is a being comprised of three elements: consciousness, matter and mind. to convince readers of his theory, he takes them on a cosmic tour of blackholes, space and superhuman beings. in Human Devolution, Cremo illustrates how the self originally existed on a pure consciousness level. When it relinquishes connections with other conscious beings, it is encapsulated by matter and mind.
