In 1964, after Barry Goldwater's unsuccessful bid for the presidency, the Republican Party found itself in disarray, and Michael Deaver, a young party operative, a "red meat conservative," was looking for a new party leader he could believe in.     The book was mostly as described but was loosely packaged (bubble wrap was not secured around the book) so that the top end of the dust jacket on the front cover corner had an accordian-style tear about a half inch down the edge. Otherwise a good item and transaction.
