Reviews
The editors of this comprehensive volume have provided Schillebeeckx scholars with a veritable library of resources ... The chapters are well written, with copious notes, and largely accessible. There is much valuable information that those who do not read Dutch will appreciate. This is an essential text for any theological library., "This splendid volume of essays on the work of Edward Schillebeeckx, as well as on the key theological challenges he engaged during his lifetime, forms a solid platform for the next generation of Schillebeeckx research. An important contribution to the current theological scene." -- Robert Schreiter, Professor of Theology, Catholic Theological Union, USA "This volume of essays brings together the best of international scholarship on one of the most influential Christian theologians of the twentieth century. Representing three generations of Schillebeeckx scholars, the comprehensive presentation offers fresh perspectives on many dimensions of his wide ranging theological corpus and demonstrates why he remains relevant to today's pressing issues." -- Mary E. Hines, Professor of Theology, Emmanuel College, USA "This book confirms the vitality of Edward Schillebeeckx's theological legacy. Seasoned experts and new pioneers offer major contributions on the genesis and evolution of his theology, exploring the spectrum of topics in his systematic theology, and wrestling with its implications for a theology of culture." -- Bradford E. Synopsis
Written by leading experts on both the thought of Edward Schillebeeckx and modern theology, this handbook offers the first comprehensive study of the historical, philosophical, political and theological aspects of Schillebeeckx's work. As one of the most influential Catholic theologians of the twentieth century, he played a key role in the preparations for the theological revolution of the Second Vatican Council and the debates of the post-conciliar era. His engagement with critical theory, hermeneutics, and biblical scholarship culminated in his groundbreaking Christological trilogy, which marked Schillebeeckx as one of the most significant and innovative thinkers of his time. By building an overview of recent research into Schillebeeckx's writing, the contributors shed new light on his influence and ongoing relevance in contemporary theology. Beginning with the roots of Schillebeeckx's views on metaphysics, spirituality and faith, the essays then move to his work during and after the Second Vatican Council, and then to his engagement with new directions in philosophy and his renewal of classical topics such as creation, theological and soteriological anthropology, and eschatology. Culminating with an analysis of theology and culture, this handbook thoroughly explores the implications of Schillebeeckx's theology for a contemporary readership.

- t***t (410)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaI recently twice purchased three Folio Society books from this seller. All packaged in bubble wrap and shipped appropriately. I'm impressed there are still people who do what's needed to take care of collectable books. Given the increasing brutal state of the USPS (and seeing that putting it on a private profit model will not improve the situation), I can't express enough how important a responsible real bookseller is to collectors who love and treasure their books.
