The magnets are in individual segments so that items with round shanks like drill bits tend to 'roll' along the rail towards the centre of the nearest segment - a bit annoying. Generally poor quality overall, but they are cheap. Possibly too cheap. Dapetz sent completely the wrong item, but eventually sorted it out.
