Synopsis
From the legendary journalist and creator of "Gonzo" journalism Hunter S. Thompson comes the bestselling critical look at Nixon and McGovern's 1972 presidential election. Forty years after its original publication, Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72 remains a cornerstone of American political journalism and one of the bestselling campaign books of all time. Hunter S. Thompson's searing account of the battle for the 1972 presidency--from the Democratic primaries to the eventual showdown between George McGovern and Richard Nixon--is infused with the characteristic wit, intensity, and emotional engagement that made Thompson "the flamboyant apostle and avatar of gonzo journalism" ( The New York Times ). Hilarious, terrifying, insightful, and compulsively readable, Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72 is an epic political adventure that captures the feel of the American democratic process better than any other book ever written., The 50th anniversary edition of "the best account yet published of what it feels like to be out there in the middle of the American political process" ( The New York Times Book Review ) featuring a new foreword from Johnny Knoxville. A half-century after its original publication, Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72 remains a cornerstone of American political journalism and one of the bestselling campaign books of all time. Hilarious, terrifying, insightful, and compulsively readable, Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72 is an epic political adventure that captures the feel of the American democratic process better than any other book ever written--and that is just as relevant to the many ills and issues roiling the nation today. As Johnny Knoxville writes in his foreword to this 50th anniversary edition: "Hunter predicted it all."

Package arrived from Skokie, IL to southeast Michigan in three days. Book was wrapped well in an large outer plastic mailing envelope and in a second large plastic mailing envelope inside . Book was in the condition described and even has the errata sheet insert. I had no problems with the seller, and I would buy from them again. Good sale.

The seller supplied additional photos showing that the books included both dust jackets as described. The books arrived well on time and were in a like new condition. They were also well packaged. This was of great value. Thank you very much. Perfect.

Purchased on 08.26.2025 and rec'd as described on 09.02.2025 (after Labor Day holiday). Two text books were individually wrapped in plastic, wrapped together in another plastic baggie and then placed in a padded envelope. Very happy w/ the extra protection taken in shipping the text books. Thank you.
