After a nefarious race of aliens known as the Gamilons devastate Earth with nuclear weapons, a group of survivors retrofit the Japanese battleship Yamato for space travel and embark on a mission to retrieve a power plant that will remove radiation from the Earth's atmosphere. This classic anime was the inspiration for the late-1970s American television series Star Blazers and has influenced everything from STAR WARS to the Star Trek spin-offs.
