This terrifying masterpiece received five Academy Awards, including Best Director and the highly sought-after Best Picture. If you get scared being at home alone late at night, then do not come near this tale of nail-biting fear. A psychopath called 'Buffalo Bill' is known to be kidnapping and murdering young women across the mid-western area of the USA. Thinking 'it takes one to know one', the FBI sends Agent Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) to interview a known psychotic prisoner who will hopefully provide psychological insight into what makes the killer 'tick'. Strangely ironical, the prisoner turns out to be a psychiatrist, Dr. Hannibal Lector (Anthony Hopkins), a genius murderer who has a penchant for human flesh. Not an easy guy to work with, and having not lost his analytical curiosity, he decides to only help if Starling will give him detailed descriptions about her own complex life. The ensuing interaction leads Starling towards the crazed killer she's searching for, as well as the uncomfortable reality of having to confront her own psychological demons. 'Buffalo Bill' however is so naturally evil and intelligent that she may not have the skill or bravery to stop him alone. She then has to turn to her newfound source, the cannibal, for help. What does he desire in return for his assistance? 'Horrific, weirdly erotic and intimate . . .this terrifying thriller is an electrifying exercise in suspense.' (Newsweek).
