Synopsis
William Hogarth (1697-1764) was one of the great eighteenth-century painters, a marvelous colorist, and an innovator at all levels of artistic expression. In this updated volume, art historian and Hogarth scholar David Bindman surveys the works of this artist whose wry humor and sharp wit was reflected in his prolific paintings and prints, including The Rake's Progress and Marriage A-la-Mode . Hogarth was also a master of pictorial satire, highlighting the moral and political issues of the day with delightful detail and comedy--themes that resonate deeply with our times. This new edition has been specially updated to include a discussion of Hogarth's representation of Black people in eighteenth-century Britain, a subject that has long been overlooked in his many works. Now revised with additional material and illustrated in color throughout, this is a vivid and incisive study of the artist., A new, updated edition of thisilluminating study onWilliam Hogarth, one of theeighteenth century's mostfamous artists and satirists., Hogarth was one of the great 18th-century painters, a marvellous colourist and innovator at all levels of artistic expression. - _***a (24)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaItem was shipped quickly, and was securely packaged. Items was in at least as good a condition as described; it may actually be in better condition than described, as the book looks almost new and unread. Given the great condition of the book, the price was an exceptional value. Furthermore, I made contact with the seller with a query; and, they got back to me very quickly, and were able to answer all my questions. Overall, a great transaction. I would buy from this seller again. Thanks!
- l***i (231)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaThe book arrived as described and as pictured. It shipped quickly, but was shipped in only a plastic bag mailer, so not much protection. I will also forewarn, the seller does not answer questions about the specific condition of a book. I know because I asked if two different books had any writing in the margins and received the same pre-generated response both times declining to answer. Despite this, I would still recommend this seller if you are willing to shoulder that risk buying used books
- i**** (3654)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaQuick ship and excellent communication. As described in listing. Hardback book a good value for the money. It was packaged in a very thin plastic covering with no padding. The book was fine and not damaged. Delivered on time. I ordered from this seller over the last couple of years. I like to read Beatrice Small's books. A+
