Simply tap on the screen’s brightly colored buttons to find the settings you need. The Garmin Nuvi 260W easily mounts to your car’s windshield using a sturdy suction-cup mount. The mount keeps your GPS secure even when traveling over bumpy roads. Friction mounts are also available for your Nuvi, which will allow you to move the unit from vehicle to vehicle. Once you arrive at your location, you can store the lightweight Nuvi 260W GPS in your pocket or handbag. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery gives the GPS enough life to navigate your walking trips. Nuvi 260W comes fully equipped with a host of advanced navigation features. The navigator comes with City Navigator NT, an extensive map database of popular points of interest. These POIs include restaurants, hotels, gas stations, ATMs, and more. You can also save custom maps to the unit, including directions to school zones or airport terminals. The GPS provides proximity alerts when you're approaching POIs. While driving, you’ll receive spoken announcements detailing the name of exits and streets so you’ll never miss your turn. Getting started with navigation is easy: simply type your destination into the navigator’s entry fields. You can also select a favorite location from your saved places or view your log to choose a past destination. Once you’ve chosen your POI, the 260W displays 2D or 3D maps, allowing you to clearly see the route. This Garmin GPS includes many tools to help your trip go smoothly, including a measurement converter and a world travel clock. The 260W features a JPEG picture viewer, which allows you to view your favorite photos on the device’s display. The included currency converter makes determining how much cash you’ll need in foreign destinations easy. A simple-to-use calculator allows you to find mathematical solutions while on the go. Keep your GPS safe while you're on the road by using Garmin Lock, an exclusive anti-theft feature. Garmin Lock allows you to choose a personalized PIN that protects your tool from unwanted use. The receiver is compatible with Garmin Garage, which is a free software program that allows you to download custom vehicles. After installing the program, you’ll be able to see where your vehicles are on the map. In addition to the device’s internal storage, you can use plug-in SD cards to enhance your experience. Nuvi 260W is compatible with a host of accessories, including safety cameras that can help you see while maneuvering your auto. The Garmin 260W GPS can connect to your car’s lighter port for charging through its plug-in adapter.
