Intel Turbo Boost dynamically increases the processor's frequency when it's operating below the thermal limits. The processor can even achieve speeds of 2.9 GHz when fully overclocked. There are four cores and eight threads on this quad-core processor, so the computer will allocate different tasks to each core, further enhancing its speed. Watch a movie with one core while downloading a file with another.This generation of i7 processors use a type of architecture called Quick Path Interconnect. QPI architecture creates multiple pairs of high-speed, point-to-point links both inside and outside of the processor. This means you get faster data transfer between the different components. Moreover, Intel's cutting-edge hyper-threading technology improves performance with highly threaded software such as games and media players, making the most efficient use of the processor's resources. It essentially doubles the output of the processor's four cores. The Intel Core processor has been carefully optimized to play the most immersive games with advanced physics, artificial intelligence, and realistic graphics.This Intel Core microprocessor includes many other features that will improve the speed and efficiency of your CPU. The Advanced Digital Media Boost tech improves the speed of certain multimedia applications like video editing, gaming, and 3D rendering software. Intel SpeedStep improves the processor's balance between power and performance. Intel's Execute Disable Bit can block certain malicious "buffer overflow" attacks before they infect your computer. In addition, the Intel Idle States places the CPU into a low power mode whenever it goes idle.Whether you're operating a server, a desktop, or a mobile platform, this quad-core microprocessor delivers excellent computing power. It uses a 64-bit instruction set and a 45nm core micro-architecture design. With an LGA1366 socket, it's compatible with motherboards based on the Intel X58 Express chipset.
