Synopsis
National Book Critics Circle Award-winning author Penelope Fitzgerald's The Bookshop is "a marvelously piercing fiction" ( Times Literary Supplement ), short-listed for the Booker Prize. With an Introduction by David Nicholls, international best-selling author of One Day. In 1959 Florence Green, a kindhearted widow with a small inheritance, risks everything to open a bookshop--the only bookshop--in the seaside town of Hardborough. By making a success of a business so impractical, she invites the hostility of the town's less prosperous shopkeepers. By daring to enlarge her neighbors' lives, she crosses Mrs. Gamart, the local arts doyenne. Florence's warehouse leaks, her cellar seeps, and the shop is apparently haunted. Only too late does she begin to suspect the truth: a town that lacks a bookshop isn't always a town that wants one. Basis for the major motion picture starring Emily Mortimer, Bill Nighy, and Patricia Clarkson., "A marvelously piercing fiction" ( Times Literary Supplement ), shortlisted for the Booker Prize. An excellent experience with this seller. I ordered two books on 9/24, the seller shipped them on 9/25 and they were delivered on 9/27. They were well packaged to prevent damage (box, bubble wrap, packing material). The condition of the books was exactly as described.

Excellent transaction! The ordered books were reasonable priced and fully match the description provided by the seller. Books are covered in a plastic transparant dustjacket. Shipment of the books was swift and in a sturdy parcel, in which the items were well wrapped in protective materials. Even though one of the delivered books was a different volume than the one ordered, the seller was prompt to come up with a satisfying solution. Thanks, great experience!
