Excellent pen with all the qualities you would look for in a fountain pen- large ink capacity, pristine nib for a smooth writing experience and great feel on the hand. Reasonably priced as well.

You could spend a lifetime looking for a pen that writes smoother or more reliably than the 823, and not find it. More expensive? Yes, but the higher price would be for more gold trim, higher gold content in the nib (doesn’t make it write “better”, just costs more), or ebonite/Urushi body (no impact on writing experience). The 743 writes just as well, but has smaller ink capacity (cartridge/converter).

I would highly recommend penpen-avenue. I bought multiple items from penpen-avenue at the same time, and the seller will combine shipping. I ended up opting to spend a bit more, to get my combined shipment from Japan via DHL which made for much faster gratification. The items were all NIB and in excellent condition. The seller's attention to detail and courtesy is greatly appreciated
