Due to the way that the drum is made you can't get a 5 lb whole chicken in the drum because the axle shaft prevents it. You might be able to tumble 12 lbs of chicken parts in it. Other than being miss lead on the capabilities of the unit it seems to be built well of quality. In order for a tumbler to work properly the meat or produce inside can not be packed in, it has to have room to flop/tumble
