Synopsis
The essays and anecdotes collected in this book are an engaging and fascinating array of both the familiar and the surprising in Oregon history. While not a comprehensive history, it covers the long span from the prehistoric to the present with in-depth, thought provoking and often humorous glimpses of the personalities and peculiarities that inhabit Oregon's past. Its offbeat, ecclectic approach will inform and entertain you. Learn what forces of nature combined to create Oregon over geologic eons. See how the land's natural gifts inspired the mythic world of its original natives. What was it like for Lewis and Clark to spend an Oregon winter on the north coast -- without the modern tourist conveniences? Follow the Barlow Road, the most perilous part of the journey facing pioneers at the end of the Oregon Trail. Witness Portland's booming optimism at the start of the 20th century, staging the west coast's first worlds fair and building a world-class rail transit system. See revealed -- as never before -- the seemy vice underworld of Portland's 1950s rackets mobs. Recall Oregon's illustrious sports heritage and re-live the careers of her superstars -- not just in sports, but in politics too. All this and much, much more -- from the sublime to the ridiculous, the momentous to the minute -- awaits within these pages., A fascinating array of both the familiar and the surprising, Great and Minor Moments in Oregon History will inform and entertain you.

- e***- (122)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaUnfortunately I received a damaged book, the item and the package both were damaged and it was clearly evident its appearance that it happened during transit. The seller was very understanding and gave me a full refund for the damaged book, though it was no fault of their own. Other than the damage, the book was as described, the quality and condition aside from the damaged spot was like new. The cost of the book was reasonable. I would definitely purchase from the seller again.
- v***v (2101)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaAlthough this book was not as described, with no picture of it in the listing, the seller communicated well and quickly gave me a full refund while letting me keep it. The minimal packaging left the book a bit vulnerable (typical for ThriftBooks), but it did arrive safely and timely. As usual, it’s hit or miss with this seller, but often times you can get great values, and their customer service is always very good. Many other sellers with millions of transactions don’t even communicate. How to chalk talk, by Harlan Tarbell (#197064259889)
- 7***j (851)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaI recently purchased an item from this eBay seller, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From the prompt communication to the fast shipping, everything was handled with utmost professionalism. The item arrived exactly as described and was well-packaged to ensure its safety during transit. The seller was courteous and responsive, making the entire transaction smooth and hassle-free. I highly recommend this seller to anyone looking for quality products and excellent service.
