Synopsis
"Grant is passionate yet blessedly free of rhetoric and gush. And how welcome is her evocation of the [sexual revolution's] optimism even its loopy naivete at a time when AIDS stamps eros with death, when the religious Right uses illness to stake sexual terror." - The Village Voice, Film scholars and enthusiasts will welcome this new edition of Donald Richie's incomparable study, last updated in 1984. The introduction and filmography contain new information, and Richie has added chapters on Ran, Dreams, Rhapsody in August, and Madadayo., In 2006, 500 years after his death, the Royal Library of Belgium organised an exhibition revealing treasures from the era of Philip the Fair (1478-1506), last duke of Burgundy. This volume reunites most of the papers delivered at a conference held during the exhibition, increased with four new chapters. Ten specialists from Belgium, the Netherlands and the United States discuss the book market and its place in society in this transitional period when manuscripts and printed books were produced and used next to one another. The contributions are organised in pairs around five topics, whereby in each case one author treats manuscripts and the other printed books: Philip the Fair and his books, art in books, music in books, politics in books, the book market. Contributions by: Renaud Adam, Jean-Marie Cauchies, Marieke van Delft, Lieve De Kesel, Samuel Mareel, Zoe Saunders, Susie Speakman Sutch, Herman Pleij, Rob Wegman, and Hanno Wijsman.

- r***g (379)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaFirst I must write that for being a vintage paperback, it was in excellent condition, which was true to the description and multiple pictures. Not a bad price either. The response was quick, shipping was fast and the book was very well wrapped and packaged. All around a great experience, highly recommend this seller. A++! Thank you!
- 1***a (22)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaI apologize for my tardiness in posting feedback. The seller did a superb job! I received my book five days after ordering, and it arrived in better condition than "very good"; along with its cd as advertised. The seller took care with packaging, which I appreciate:) They also priced this out of print book about pionus parrots very fairly in my opinion, and I deeply appreciate the chance to finally read it!
- l***l (9)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaThis edition of Wuthering Heights came securely wrapped in a bubble-lined manila envelope, well cushioned using a corrugated cardboard sleeve. The book is exquisite--as described-- and in fact, better than pictured. Shipping was fast and the price is comparable for an item of this age/condition. Thanks aFrolicOfTheirOwn!
