Reviews
Praise for Felix Francis Front Runner "Francis once again proves himself worthy of wearing his father's colors. This latest effort has an absolutely propulsive plot that will remind Dick Francis fans of his classic nail-biters . . . This one's a stunner."-- Booklist (starred review) "Entertaining . . . Francis again offers an imaginative variant on the racetrack-related thriller plots of his father."-- Publishers Weekly "Fast-paced and well-constructed . . . Francis once again pulls off extending the spirit of his father's long string of successful horse racing mystery novels quite nicely."-- Reviewing the Evidence "Felix has inherited his father's talent to craft an interesting story with engaging characters....Even readers who never visit a racetrack will find what happens behind the scenes fascinating....Felix has produced a winner."-- Woman Around Town Dick Francis's Damage "Felix Francis' latest mystery does the family tradition proud...a vivid and fascinating read."-- Washington Times "Francis's fourth solo outing ranks with the best of his late father's thrillers set in the British horse racing world. The compelling main storyline deserves high marks for originality..."-- Publishers Weekly (starred review) "Felix Francis wields all of his father's tools of the trade here, telling a satisfying story of murder and intrigue that barrels along without losing sight of the details . . . this satisfying novel is worthy of the Francis name."-- Shelf Awareness "Francis expertly choreographs Jeff's extended cat-and-mouse duel...Fans of both thrillers and horse racing will be on tenterhooks..."-- Kirkus Reviews "Felix is a master plotter and suspense builder. A wonderful feature of this book is the wealth of detail Francis provides about racing...Another Francis thriller in which danger and suspense build with each scene."-- Booklist "[Felix] has the Francis formula down pat, with descriptions of the horse-racing industry real and exciting, and character analysis deep and penetrating...sharp and insightful...all the characterizations are acute, as is the plotting, and the novel is highly recommended." -- Crimespree Magazine "This is the fourth incredible solo novel written by Felix Francis, son of the eminent mystery novelist Dick Francis, and in this latest story, the action and suspense are right on target. . . . An extremely good story for the mystery lover, and most especially the horseracing fan. With a fascinating plot, Felix Francis continues to prove that he owns the wonderful writing style of his famous dad; yet he still has the fresh voice that allows him to carve a niche in the literary world that is all his own. Readers can keep looking forward to the next mystery that will open up the gates and unveil the underbelly of the racetracks of England."-- Suspense Magazine, Praise for Triple Crown "Felix has proven a champion storyteller. . . . Triple Crown is an engaging thriller that bursts out of the gate and maintains a good place throughout. Francis pulls back the curtain on American horse racing, giving readers what goes into getting a thoroughbred ready for the starting gate, as well as the stark differences between racing, and law enforcement, on either side of the Atlantic."-- Mystery Scene "Felix Francis continues the run of his "Dick Francis novels" (after his father) with this sixth solo racetrack mystery, and it's another well-crafted nail-biter... Felix Francis has his father's gift for deft plotting and for creating memorable characters, but his prose is much more expansive... As in all novels in the Francis line, readers will learn a great deal about horses, racetracks, and, here, the tough life of grooms. The action builds to a hold-your-breath climax and brilliant resolution. Another winner in the Francis stable."-- Booklist, Praise for Triple Crown "Felix has proven a champion storyteller. . . . Synopsis
Jefferson Hinkley is back in the newest thriller in the Dick Francis tradition, this time on a special mission to the United States to investigate a conspiracy involving the biggest horse races in the country. Jeff Hinkley, investigator for the British Horseracing Authority, has been seconded to the US Federal Anti-Corruption in Sports Agency (FACSA) where he has been asked to find a mole in their organization--an informant who is passing on confidential information to those under suspicion in American racing. At the Kentucky Derby, Jeff joins the FACSA team in a raid on a horse trainer's barn at Churchill Downs, but the bust is a disaster, and someone ends up dead. Then, on the morning of the Derby itself, three of the most favored horses in the field fall sick. These suspicious events can be no coincidence. In search of answers, Jeff goes undercover as a groom on the backstretch at Belmont Park racetrack in New York. But he discovers far more than he was bargaining for: corrupt individuals who will stop at nothing--including murder--to capture the most elusive prize in world sport, the Triple Crown.

- v***v (2076)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaAlthough this book was not as described, with no picture of it in the listing, the seller communicated well and quickly gave me a full refund while letting me keep it. The minimal packaging left the book a bit vulnerable (typical for ThriftBooks), but it did arrive safely and timely. As usual, it’s hit or miss with this seller, but often times you can get great values, and their customer service is always very good. Many other sellers with millions of transactions don’t even communicate.
