In her case, mama was a rollin' stone. Lee left her husband and son to make it in show business in the early '20s and soon was leading a band boasting a young Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey. She had a big beautiful voice and amazing versatility, exhibited throughout these Pathe, Perfect and Columbia cuts: Mail Man Blues; Too Tired; My Sugar Babe; Poor Papa; Telling Eyes; Ain't He Sweet; Main Street; Tain't No Sin, and more from this oft-overlooked but wonderful singer!
