NotesThe long awaited new CD "Loud and Clear" from Boston power pop rock legends REDDY TEDDY includes 10 newly-penned orginals. Introducing the full array of their songwriting talents, the new Reddy Teddy tunes tip a hat to the Merseybeat on "Is She The One", and to Keith Richards guitar on "Pop Rock Redhead". "Somewhere The River" evokes Nashville while the band exposes a root with Jerry Lee Lewis's "Breathless". Formed in the 1970's, signed to Mercury Records, Reddy Teddy was a mainstay of the Boston/Cambridge Club Scene before a 1978 breakup. Known for their dynamic stage presence, vocal harmonies and taking it "beyond the three chords", the band was an alter ego to their mates in Aerosmith as they emerged from the Boston scene. Raised in teen garage bands playing Stones, Who, Chuck Berry, Beatles, Kinks, Yardbirds, and Muddy Waters, the the band of four 20 year olds was discovered by Mercury A/R man and Bob Dylan buddy Paul Nelson (New York Dolls) and promptly whisked away to Mercury\'s W 57th street studios for a demo of their originals, a record deal offer and a showcase gig in Greenwich Village. Playboy later touted the band (June 1977) as; \'...possibly the best new American band, period\'. After working w/producers Michael Brown (Left Banke - "Don't Walk Away Renee") and Andrew Loog Oldham (The Rolling Stones), the band left a trail of studio recordings still available in a two CD compilation (Not Lame Records). Reformed in 2004 with Boston guitarist Jeff Lock of another storied Boston power pop band, The Atlantics, the band reunited in tribute to original bandmate Matthew Mackenzie for a sold out CD release party at Boston's Paradise with old friend and Boston rock icon Willie Alexander (The Lost, Velvet Underground, Boom Boom Band) on piano. Demand for Reddy Teddy music inspired additional performances, new songs and a new 2008 CD release. In addition to Lock (guitar, vocals), the lineup includes four of the original seventies\' band members John Morse (lead vocals), Scott Baerenwald (bass/vocals, also of Robin Lane and the Chartbusters), Joe Marino (Drums, vocals), Ted von Rosenvinge (guitar, vocals).
