Your pregnancy is divided into three trimesters, each of approximately 13 weeks. This book devotes two pages to each week of pregnancy, looking at what is happening to you and how your baby is growing and developing, side effects you may be experiencing, the various routine antenatal appointments and anything you could be doing to promote your healthy pregnancy. Finally, the book clearly describes birth and the first few hours after delivery. There is information on birth plans, the different stages of labour, pain relief, cutting the cord, delivery of the placenta, induced labour, assisted deliveries, breech births and Caesarean sections. The book also covers how you feel after the birth, what your baby may look like and the first feeds and checks that are performed to make sure you and your baby are well.
