No clue what happened, but I suspect it had a little adventure before being repacked. I contacted the seller with photos, and they responded promptly with an apology and a full refund. That was to the Danish Postal Service and it arrived in my hands earlier this afternoon. The information was so misleading that I received 2 reminders from ebay about not leaving feedback. The item was as described and well packaged.
