Grant, William Tecumseh Sherman, Philip Sheridan, Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, James Longstreet, J. E. B. Stuart, Stonewall Jackson, and many others. Informative notes su, This magnificent portrait gallery documents the men who took command during the dark and bloody days of the nation's greatest internal calamity. Two dozen photographs, the work of famed Civil War photographer Mathew Brady and his contemporaries, depict a roster of celebrated Union and Confederate leaders, including Abraham Lincoln, Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, and Ulysses S. Grant. Also depicted are Confederate officers James Longstreet, J. E. B. Stuart, "Stonewall" Jackson, and Nathan Bedford Forrest, along with their Union adversaries: William Tecumseh Sherman, Philip Sheridan, George Brinton McClellan, George Gordon Meade, and many others. Carefully reproduced in card format, these reprints of rare, original photographs constitute a superb archive of the combined military leadership of the North and the South. Selected by David Madden and with informative notes by Leah Wood (both affiliated with the U.S. Civil War Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana), these striking cards are ideal as postcards, bookmarks, gift cards, and more.
