When trying to push the cleaning rod into the trombone slide it bends like a wet noodle. Could not get cleaning rod into slide without it bending no matter how hard I tried.

The mouthpiece was packed safely and securely, which is how it arrived. While I'm not sure it's right for me, that's a personal thing. There is nothing about it that wasn't described.
