The 80 Years' War began with a limited Dutch rebellion seeking only religious toleration from their Spanish overlords, but ended with an independent republic recognized as a global power. During the phase between 1588 and 1610 the genius of Maurice of Nassau built a new, tightly-drilled army of 'pike and shot' on the foundation of ancient Roman infantry tactics, setting an example for the rest of Europe. This book describes and explains the evolution of that infantry; it is illustrated with photos, period engravings, tactical diagrams, and meticulous colour plates of the soldiers and their flags, some of them previously unpublished. It will appeal to enthusiasts of 16th- and 17th-century warfare., The 80 Years' War (also known as the Dutch War of Independence) was the foundation of Dutch nationhood, and during the course of the conflict one of its main leaders--Maurice of Orange-Nassau--created an army and a tactical system that became a model throughout Europe. This study, the first of a two-part series, focuses on the Dutch infantry. It examines how Maurice of Orange-Nassau attracted volunteers and students from across Europe, introduced innovative new training methods such as common drill movements, and standardized the organization and payment system of the army to make it more than a match for the occupying Spanish. His successes inspired officers and generals across the continent to copy his methods, including many English officers who went on to fight in the English Civil Wars. Featuring full-color artwork and rare period illustrations, this book examines how the Dutch infantry was transformed into a fighting force able to defeat the might of Imperial Spain.

    Everything as advertised. Fair price, good communication and fast delivery. I purchased a 12 bottle display box of liquid plastic cement. The bottles are glass. The display box is made of thin cardboard. My only suggestion is that they should have used bubble wrap to pack around the display box to prevent the glass bottles from breaking the display box. Thankfully, none of the glass bottles broke.

    A question asked in feedback is "did your item arrive on time" I have no idea since there was no tracking. It was stressful for me not knowing when my order would arrive. I messaged the seller twice only heard back on the first message. I don't think I'll shop this seller again. As for the item I purchased it's of good quality, good condition and appearance is good. I'm not sure it was a good value since I worried and wondered where my order was. No tracking makes it difficult on customers
