Mother Heart is a stunningly beautiful tribute to Saint Hildegard of Bingen, the brilliant 12th Century mystic, abbess, and visionary who drew from ancient wisdom that views the entire cosmos as perfectly harmonized music. Saint Hildegard taught that every being, every entity, and every movement produces a sound inaudible to most of us, yet in harmonic relation to all other sounds. Hildegard possessed the extraordinary gift of being able to hear this extremely subtle but very real cosmic music. She believed that the function of earthly music is to open a portal to the higher realms of harmony that remind us of our soul's origin and rejoin our voices and spirits to the very melody of life. Owing to the fact that Hildegard's compositions were truly divinely inspired, and that Susan Lincoln has rendered Hildegard's songs with unparalleled devotion and precision, you'll find that Mother Heart is highly conducive music for meditation. This recording is also the perfect music for yoga, as well as ideal music for relaxation and stress-relief. Artist biography: Susan Lincoln is a classically trained musician and former opera singer whose passions and studies have led her into the healing arts. She is also a beloved and inspiring teacher who sings the music of 12th century abbess and mystic Hildegard of Bingen every day of her life. Susan has led groups in voice and creative expression for more than 25 years. Her eclectic journey through opera, sound and energy healing, creative movement, and mystical chant provides a rich soil for spiritual exploration. She is founder of Hilde Girls, song circles for women that use the wisdom and music of Hildegard of Bingen to strengthen and enrich women's lives. Susan's relationship with Hildegard of Bingen began in 1981 and exploded in 1999 when she first sang Hildegard's songs in the chapel of The Benedictine Abbey of St. Hildegard. Remembering the experience, Susan says, "It was as if Hildegard herself came into my heart and voice. I was trembling, my knees were buckling, and I had the experience of being sung." Soon afterwards, Susan returned to the U.S. and began sharing her newly discovered passion with other women. She continues to share the music and wisdom Hildegard of Bingen through ongoing classes in Austin, Texas, and has led numerous classes and retreats throughout the U.S. and Europe.
