I did perform a couple steps as a precaution prior to operating the liftgate that may or may not have been necessary. Disconnected the battery, installed control module, reconnected battery, ran a DTC scanner and erased all codes even though none showed. After verifying that the unit worked, I zip tied it to a wire bundle up off the floor of the rear compartment to prevent water damage failure again. Good luck
