This Barbie is a part of the Barbie Loves Pop Culture collection that pays tribute to iconic people in Pop Culture history. That Girl 2003 Barbie doll pays tribute to Marlo Thomas, who won the hearts of millions as Ann Marie on the hit 1967 television series, ‘That Girl’. Ann Marie was one of the first women on television that successfully displayed the feminist movement in America. Ann Marie was not a homemaker or living at home with her parents but an independent young woman. The show depicted her life as a fashion forward, working socialite and taste maker. The likeness of Ann Marie is displayed in this commissioned Barbie which was released in 2003. That Girl 2003 Barbie doll can be every bit as charming today as Ann Marie was back in the 1960s. Designed by Sharon Zuckerman, with close attention to detail, the That Girl 2003 Barbie is draped in an outfit that closely resembles the original and was inspired by the show’s opening sequence. In this outfit, That Girl Barbie means business. She wears a show stopping, double breasted, two piece mini skirt suit in navy blue. The two piece suit is adorned with gold buttons and red piping trim along the hems, sleeves and pockets of the jacket. To compliment the navy blue, red and gold suit, That Girl Barbie comes with a beautiful, classically shaped red bag with a chain handle. This Barbie stays true to Ann Marie’s style all the way through. Her hair is Ann Marie’s signature jet black '60s extreme flip and bang. That Girl 2003 has beautiful long lashes, gold earrings and red lipstick. This Barbie’s clothing is truly an ode to classic 60’s style and no classic outfit is complete without a classic shoe to match, That Girl 2003 can make waves and hit the pavement in her stylish Mary Jane heels. She also comes with a stylish white hat and beautiful white gloves. The packaging can be just as detailed and intricate as the doll herself. The background of the box has a back drop of midtown New York. The back of the That Girl 2003 Barbie packaging features a snippet about the show “That Girl” and also has two photos of Ann Marie. The Barbie doll cannot stand alone. Colors and decorations may vary. Due to small parts, suitable only for ages 3 and up but it can look great as part of anyone’s collection.
