Synopsis
Composition and hip hop may seem unrelated, but the connection isn't hard to make: Hip hop and rap rely on a complex of narrative practices that have clear ties to some of the best American essay writing. The Hip Hop Reader brings together work by important writers about this cultural phenomenon and provides lively selections that represent a variety of styles and interests. This unique reader provides an insight into the history, culture, music and lyrics of one of today's most important cultural forms, always looking at these through the lens of composition. The range of readings included explore hip hop's dexterity and originality-its sensitivity to diction, penchant for puns and other verbal play, and its inherent belief in the power of words to transform reality and empower in the face of sometimes oppressive circumstances. Reading and talking about hip hop allows instructors to bring issues into the composition classroom that sometimes feel too raw or sensitive to address without a specific cultural or theoretical context., Composition and hip hop may seem unrelated, but the connection isn't hard to make: Hip hop and rap rely on a complex of narrative practices that have clear ties to some of the best American essay writing. Unfortunately I received a damaged book, the item and the package both were damaged and it was clearly evident its appearance that it happened during transit. The seller was very understanding and gave me a full refund for the damaged book, though it was no fault of their own. Other than the damage, the book was as described, the quality and condition aside from the damaged spot was like new. The cost of the book was reasonable. I would definitely purchase from the seller again.

Arrived on time. Packaging was lacking, product damaged in two places during shipping due to inadequate padding within the packaging. I can live with it seeing as I don't want to hunt down and pay for another copy... Item was as described minus the damage to the spine of the book in one place from the thin plastic wrapping not providing any rigidity or padding. This is the first time I have encountered this problem with this Fantastic seller. Excellent value. Thank you
