Reviews
"Hagop S. Akiskal introduced the concept of chronic depression into modern psychiatry and convinced us all of its clinical and public health importance. His rich descriptions combine poignant clinical phenomenology with modern scientific data. This volume is a compendium of the latest thinking on the concept, the diagnosis, and the treatment of chronic depression. It is a 'must read' for every clinician and every clinical researcher." --Robert M. A. Hirschfeld, MD, Titus H. Harris Distinguished Professor and Chair, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, The University of Texas "Revolutionary changes have emerged recently in the way we conceptualize and treat dysthymia and related chronic depressive disorders. Hagop S. Akiskal, a pioneer in this area, is joined by a talented international cast to document the clinical impact of these scientific advances. The resulting book provides mental health clinicians with an elegant, avant-garde, yet practical compendium on this prevalent spectrum of chronic depressive suffering." --Lewis L. Judd, MD, Mary Gilman Marston Professor and Chair, Department of Psychiatry, University of California, San Diego; Former Director, National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), "This book is a significant step forward in the understanding of dysthymia and other chronic depressions." --Journal of Clinical Psychiatry "This valuable collection of chapters places the last 15 years of affective disorder research and clinical practice in a wonderful perspective....the distinguished group of contributors provide a lively debate on nosological and treatment issues, a debate that continues to this date." --American Journal of Psychiatry "The book will be especially illuminating to clinicians who are not aware of how greatly the conceptualization of chronic depression has changed in recent years....For anyone contemplating research on chronic depression, as well as for clinicians, this book is an excellent place to start." --Child & Family Behavior Therapy "The text displays a broad grasp of psychotherapy and epidemiology, and a sophisticated application of medication that gives hope for improved treatment efficacy. The work is strengthened by the expertise of the international researchers and clinicians whose contributions Akiskal and Cassano have compiled." --Readings

Synopsis
Recent research findings have led to a paradigmatic shift in our conceptualization of chronic depressions, ushering in a new era of optimism about their clinical management. This volume documents the ongoing transformation of theory and practice--from art into science--in this critical field. Bringing together leading international experts in psychiatry and psychology, the book reviews what is currently known about the nature and classification of specified chronic depressive subtypes. With vital implications for the pharmacologic treatment of a range of disorders that were historically believed to be beyond the reach of somatotherapy, the book also considers psychotherapeutic issues and raises numerous compelling questions for future investigation.

- v***4 (131)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaPurchased 5 car Madison rail car set at auction. Received package well wrapped and in original box. Cars themselves are in excellent condition and mostly as described, although I believe they have seen some track time. That being said, seller offers returns so I'm confident seller was told these cars were new by whomever he got them from. The purchase price was excellent so when averaged with a higher than normal shipping fee it turned out to be an overall good deal.(D) #56W - Williams 43471 O Gauge Custom Pullman 60 Ft. - n***2 (298)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaSeller responded quickly to my question before purchasing and the book is in great condition, basically "like new" except for some yellowing. I also appreciate that they don't put huge stickers on the books like a lot of the other big sellers. It was shipped quickly, arrived in 1 week, and pretty well packaged so there was no shipping damage (in spite of USPS wedging the cardboard envelope so tightly in my mailbox that I almost couldn't get it out). I'd definitely buy from them again.
