(2 albums on one CD) the timely reissue of these, Stan Tracey's first two albums as a leader in his own right, restores to splendor two key pieces of the jigsaw puzzle that is the patchily documented British Modern Jazz scene of the 1950s. It also serves as a reminder of the long road which Stan Tracey has travelled in order to reach his current position of venerated elder statesman of the genre. These original Vogue LPs have achieved legendary, even mythic, status, "Little Klunk" especially. 16 page booklet reproduces the original liner notes and contains an overview written by Simon Spillett.
