The Nikon Micro-Nikkor 105 mm lens is the first macro lens to feature Silent-Wave motor technology, which makes it suitable for situations that require silent operation, such as wildlife photography. The Nikon AF-S lens uses Vibration Reduction II technology to produce sharp images at close ranges, allowing photographers to shoot at up to four shutter speeds slower than traditional lenses without blurring cause by camera shake. This makes the Nikon Micro-Nikkor 105 mm lens particularly effective for shooting at night or handheld telephoto photography. This macro lens has 14 elements in 12 groups, taking advantage of extra-low-dispersion glass to reduce chromatic aberrations. The Nikon Micro-Nikkor 105 mm lens also benefits from a nano-crystal coating which works to reduce ghost and flare effects. The Internal Focus technology of this Nikon AF-S lens allows photographers to automatically focus without changing the length of the lens, which means that subject working distance is maintained no matter what the focal distance is.
